The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed

Word for today
The Gospel of John 6:37-40

No fear

There are two emotions man can feel in his life. He can feel love or fear, but never at the same time. Once ignited, emotions cannot be stopped, only substituted. How? In order to know how to substitute emotions it is necessary to know where they come from. Emotions are generated by thought’s energy, by the vibration of our inner dialogue, by the decisional logos, by thoughts' mental orientation.  An inner dialogue of gratitude, forgiveness, love and compassion generates loving emotions. An inner dialogue of envy, jealousy, dissatisfaction, avidity, possession generates fearful emotions. Just as there cannot be any gesture or muscular movement that is not set off by an electro-chemical order from the brain and the nervous system, in the same way it is absolutely impossible for a man to feel an emotional reaction, an emotion, which has not been set off and determined by thoughts, even those formulated quickly or unawares. When someone feels fear, rage, annoyance, resentment it is because that person has cultivated those corresponding thoughts. When someone feels love, joy, understanding, compassion, happiness, it is because that person has cultivated those corresponding thoughts.  An emotion, once generated, cannot be switched off, dimmed, or blocked, it can only substituted, in the same way no thought once formulated can be switched off, dimmed, blocked, stopped, arrested, inactivated, but only substituted. It is clear then  how important it is to know how to substitute the thoughts of our inner dialogue,  our logos, to be able to generate and feel beautiful, vital, happy emotions. In order to be happy one must know how to communicate with one's inner heart, what words to use in our logos, to avoid generating destructive and poisonous emotions, and to generate joyful and serene ones. Given the extraordinary importance of the kind of words used in the inner dialogue, and the great power they have in generating one’s emotional state, was it just by chance that Jesus came to earth to give us his words, His Word of life?
Correctly feeding the inner logos with the best inner dialogue has extraordinary importance. What is the best way to feed our inner dialogue to produce emotions with a peaceful and vital energy? The best way is using the Word, not the words. That is the reason why praying the Word, meditating on the Word, contemplating the Word is so powerful and effective in achieving a life full of happy and harmonious emotions, because the Word knows how to substitute the words of unhappy and troubled human inner dialogues as no human word can. Jesus explains this continuously in the gospel, and He Himself, who is God, the Son of God, uses the same system. From what we can deduce from the gospel it is clear that Jesus made the very precise choice to feed his inner dialogue with the words of the Father, with the Word of the Father. Even in the days of the satanic temptation in the desert, Jesus answered the Devil not with His own inner dialogue, but with one that came from the Father’s Word:  'One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). With God’s word, with the inner dialogue of God His Father, Jesus taught people, healed diseases, defeated death, worked miracles, cast out evil spirits, opened minds, inspired peoples and substituted old inner dialogues to bring knowledge of a happy life full of wellbeing.
In this part of the Gospel, Jesus, identified by John the Evangelist as the embodied Logos of God, gives us a wonderful Word to use to substitute, with great efficacy, troubled poisonous inner dialogues, those that only cause emotions of anger, rage, annoyance, resentment, revenge and therefore fear, fear, fear. Whatever happens in life, if man, with patience and a bit of training, tries to substitute his inner dialogue with these words of Jesus, making them resonate within himself at any moment, meditating them, loving them, tenderly stroking them, he will never lose happiness and inner peace.  If man repeats within himself, as if it were Jesus himself who was telling his spirit and psyche: Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, he will never ever feel fear again; or if he repeats in his inner dialogue, throughout the day, always as if it were Jesus Himself telling his own heart: and I will not reject anyone who comes to me,  he will never ever feel fear again. If a man repeats within himself: because I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me. […] that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, he will not feel fear anymore. So, if a man repeats within himself with love, every second, that his life will be forever, immortal in the love and light of God, entrusting himself yo Jesus words: and I shall raise him (on) the last day, he will not feel fear any longer. Jesus left us the endless richness of His Word in the gospel, not only to let us know His truth and the procedures for happiness, but also to give us His Word to be used as a new and revitalizing inner dialogue, as a happiness logos, to be used as a pneumo-psychic energy able to substitute a deadly dialogue and fearful emotions.
