Thirtieth Week of Ordinary Time

Word for today
The Gospel of Luke 13:22-30

Far and close

I do not know where you are from, you who have regarded the channels transmitting life as your earthly parents, as if they were God, the source, thus committing the most vulgar and dangerous form of idolatry. You who have given more authority and importance to their words, directions, and wisdom than to God'z. You who have called a man father and called a woman mother and have turned love into possession. You who hang on to every word they say rather than to the words spoken by God, you who feel compassion for their pain but remain indifferent in face of millions of your brothers who are suffering. Depart from me, you who have given your friendship to a man only if he is related to you by blood.
I do not know where you are from, you who are so steeped in hypocrisy, you who proclaim justice, freedom, peace, but all for your own benefit, you who contaminate the air you breathe, the water you drink,  the earth you inhabit, you who harass and enslave my children to ensure you power over all the resources of the planet. You who agree to serve the satanic, evil laws which acclaim as heroes those who slaughter their brothers in the battlefields but condemn to death brothers dying of hunger in times of peace. Depart from me, you who have given your firendship  to man only to deplete him of all resources, to suck his energy, to destroy him physically, mentally and spiritually.
I do not know where you are from, you who have agreed to serve the kings of the earth and to be guided by their lust for power and wealth, arrogant and unjust kings who have cheated you and taken away all that made you free, happy, noble, healthy. You who have delegated all the important choices of your life to representatives of the religious, political and economic system that do not love you, do not respect you, and do not protect you.
Depart from me, you that have given your friendship to man only to enslave yourselves and to bow to the powerful of the moment; you obey out of fear and agree to compromises to ensure a slave's piece of bread for yourselves.
I do not know where you are from, you who use my name to empty the peoples of all knowledge and truth, so you can be busy about your own business and interests. You who use my name to load unbearable burdens on the shoulders of the people who you do not touch even with a finger, you who use my name to guarantee power and prestige and meanwhile you serve Satan's evil reign. You, who celebrate and proclaim my name in the streets,  you who fill the aisles of the temple with incense, but while still in the shadow of my temple perpetrate all kinds of injustice, looting with violence and  abuse, with insatiable greed and ruthless cynicism.
Depart from me, you who have given your friendship to man only to deceive, control, dominate, and to cheat him in the name of God, you who shut  the doors of knowledge and intelligence to him and convince him that pain, misery, disease, and suffering are an integral part of God's will.
I do not know where you are from, you who have believed for your whole life that you are the first, the most important, the strongest, the most decisive in history, and have generated billions of   hungry, thirsty, weak, poor, oppressed, miserable, unhappy, desperate persons. I do not know where you come from, certainly not from me, from the Lord of Life, the Lord of Love. Depart from me, because you have never ever given friendship to my children out of love or served  them with tenderness, gratitude and joy. Depart from me, because if you have never given your friendship to man, I do not know where you are from.
Depart from me, says the Lord, for he who does not give his friendship to man is far from God.
