Word for today
The Gospel of John 1:43-51

You will see

You will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man. In evangelic terminology Jesus does not intend to refer to the end of the world but to the end of times, of these times. He is referring to His intermediate coming when He will come to lead mankind to real civilization. The civilization that we have constructed is a civilization that has burned intelligence, substituting it with the capacity to deny the evidence. It is a civilization which has snuffed out all joy in living. It is a civilization that has gotten us used to living sad, miserable, ignorant, oppressed, enslaved lives. It is a civilization that has gotten us used to not seing or enjoying the boundless beauty of life but to coexisting with blackmail, challenges, courtrooms and scandals, tortures, hunger and starvation. It is a civilization that hides - under the guise of civilization and progress - the interests of ravenous wolves and hidden predators belonging to the benefits groups. It is a civilization that will fall to pieces quickly when it will feel the need for a real civilization of love. We will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man,  and then a new civilization will begin, a civilization that was supposed to begin after Jesus’ coming, a civilization in which men learn out of love and for their own wellbeing to make their own will coincide with that of our Heavenly Father. A civilization in which men know how to look inwards within themselves to begin to realize that no one is forcing us to hurt ourselves, that we are free to change, to improve, to perceive the unbelievable beauty of life and the fact of being alive in God’s wonderful plan. A civilization that will be born out of the awareness that we were not born sinners – God created children who were not sinners - and that despite our fragility God loves us, is always with us and will always give us everything that we need to conduct humanity towards a radiant evolution. A civilization in which the beauty of life and just the fact of being alive in the hands of God fills our hearts, our minds, our eyes with gratittude and joy every instant for all eternity. If only we could believe for just one instant that we do not need to hate, steal, force, torture, enslave, corrupt in order to have everything we need and everything that we love and desire! If only for an instant we could be aware even just partially of the wonder of life that God invented and created for us! If only we could just for an instant have the faith and simplicity of heart of Nathanael who - when he met a man (Jesus) who said he saw him under the fig tree a few hours earlier -  saw that that man was God, the son of God, the Lord.

Nathanael, a man without duplicity, intercede for us, to prepare us for the meeting that will take place in the opened sky while God’s angels ascend and descend between one universe and another above the Son of God.
