Fifth Week of Easter

Word for today
The Gospel of John 15:1-8

Branch

It is the bond between the branch and the vine that allows the branch to bear fruit. Jesus uses with decision this symbology to reveal the absolute importance of mantaining the bond with Him as strong and firm as possible. Why does Jesus insist so much on this bond with Him? Because life is made of bonds and survive through bonds. Physical life is woven with bonds, chemical bonds, molecular bonds and crystal ties, electromagnetic bonds. Bonds allow the transmission of energy and information. Strong bonds have an high energy content and are hard to break, weak bonds have a low energy content and are easy to break.  There are bonds of different kinds, grade, value, uselfulness and meaning. There are psychical, relational, affective, work, blood, belonging, cultural, ideological, spiritual bonds.  Bonds allow the transmission of energy, vital bonds transmit life, mortal bonds transmit death. The most natural bond is the one with survival, the most unnatural one is the one with duty. The quickest bond to be created is the one that comes from imitation, the slowest is the one with ourselves. The most charming bond is the one with power, the most poisonous is the one generated by envy. The most dangerous one is the one created by possession. The most enslaving one is the one generated by the thirst of dominion, the most shameful the one with submission, the most tiring the one with control. The most insane bond is the one with revenge, the most stupid the one with money, the most toxic the one with the past, the most perverse the one with others’ approval. The bond that more than any other creates dependence is the one with ambition, the most frustrating is the one with others’ expectation. The most mortal bond is the one with separation, the one that grips the most is the one with avidity. The most satanic bond is the one that Satan created between us and distraction. The most unbreakable bond is the one created by forgiveness, the most exciting one is the love bond that makes us free, the supreme bond is the love bond that makes us independent. The most divine bond is the one generated through praising and thanking God, for God’s glory.
Everything in life is managed through bonds otherwise the transmission of energy, and therefore of life itself, would not be possible. Since the very moment of Creation everything is connected with invisible treads to the creative act of God, which give life, movement, energy and meaning to everything. Even Satan and his angels, who separated themselves from God, are somehow connected to Him, otherwise they would not be alive, and they would not be able to move and transmit energy.
Bond’s energy content decides the quality and the strength of the bond itself and, at the same time, quality and strength of the bond decide its energy content. Practically the exchange of a large amount of energy creates a strong bond, but also a strong bond allows the transmission of a large amount of energy. A strong bond allows a mighty transmission of energy. A mighty energy makes a bond very strong. If the bond is weak, that means that it has a low energy.
We need to choose a kind of bond to determine the kind of energy we wish to give and receive. With the example of the branch and the vine Jesus informs us that His bond with us is total, faithful, unbreakable in the name of the love He carries, because we are His creatures, His beloved children, but He also inspires us to understand that if we grow in the awareness of how beautiful and vital it is to be constantly and lovingly bonded with Him, He will be able to transmit us all the energy and the knowledge that we need to live happy, healthy, in peace, free and independent. God is always connected with us and transmits us all His gift and grace to us in every moment, but if we do not grow in the desire to be and live connected to Him, than He will not be able to transmit us the energy and the knowledge we need for a kind of evolution that our mind now cannot even imagine. Jesus insists that we remain strongly connected with Him, otherwise, if our bond with him is weak, not even Him will be able to transmit us His powerful energy. Life as a creative act of God is woven with bonds, countless and invisible bond in every dimension, and it is alive thank to these bonds, but only it is remaining bonded and connected to Jesus and the Paraclete Spirit we can receive from God the Father all the life and love energy, forever.
