Seventh Week of Easter

Word for today
The Gospel of John 21:15-19

Poor rich Peter

After Jesus asked three times: Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these? Peter became simultaneously the poorest and the richest man on earth and on the entire human history. He became the poorest one because, for the human power system and the power’s control’s mechanism, choosing to love Jesus he chose Jesus lordship above any other human lordship. Jesus’ lordship is love and love does not move according to reason and reasoning but according to truth, love has no aim, it is the alpha and the omega of all and it always leads to happiness. Peter, choosing to love Jesus, chose Jesus’ lordship, chose to serve Jesus. In Peter’s love answer to the question Jesus asked for three times, Jesus finally and completely set Peter and the gospel’s disciples free from the need to recognize any meaning and royalty, honour and validity to any human power in any manifestation. Serving Jesus wholeheartedly frees man from thirst of power and, at the same time, save him from the power’s jaws. Jesus set Peter free from human power. Jesus set Peter free from the need to recognize human power and be subdued to it to get some form of wellbeing and safety, evolution and progress. He freed Peter from man’s power that necessarily feeds on admiration, public consensus, thirst of dominion, people’s fear. He freed Peter and His disciples from the need to run after human power, which is the only power able to really endanger human freedom, power that, while feeding itself with voluptuousness and prestige, can really empty man of his dignity. Peter, recognizing and loving Jesus’ lordship, was freed from the need to have human power and prestige and from the deception according to which power corresponds to God’s will and God’ will is realized through power. Jesus freed Peter from the fear which has the power to corrupt the heart and distort the intelligence. Peter was freed from the fear of not having power, of losing power, from the fear to not be able to scare people enough to keep power and control over them. Peter and Jesus’ disciples, in their answer of utter love for Jesus, were freed forever from the obsession of having to recognize any authority to the human power of the moment, freeing whoever believes in Jesus from the ignorance and the stupidity that were able to convince man that becoming subject of human power has any sense and real meaning in relation to man’s true wellbeing.
Peter, choosing to love Jesus as his Lord, became also the richest man in human history, because there is not anything on earth that can make someone happy, healthy, joyful, realized, full of wellbeing and every richness more than humbly and faithfully serving Lord Jesus. Peter is the richest man because, freed from the human power of the moment, he can serve the King of kings of the kingdom that enclose all the multi-universe, the most powerful kingdom, ultracosmic, God’s kingdom. In the days of Jesus’ Passion, the priests of the temple, Jewish religion’s leader, to scare Pilate and convince Him to sentence Jesus to death, shouted to the world: We have no king but Caesar (John 19,15), and Jesus died on the cross with this scream in His ears. We have no king but Caesar is the same scream that is saturating ears and hearts of millions of poor and helpless ones, who believed that at least the religious hierarchies were at their side. Before Jesus intermediate coming, His coming at the end of this generation, every man and woman on earth has to choose whether they want to recognize and be subdued with fear to human power or recognize and serve with love the Lord of Life, Jesus, the beautiful Shepherd.
