First Week in Ordinary Time

Word for today
The Gospel of Mark 1:29-39

Imprisoned

The mother-in-law, in Greek hè pentherà. That is a term that in linked to the meaning of "crying", "being in mourning" and "pain, unhappiness, suffering": the verb of reference is penthèo, "I am afflicted, I am in mourning." Padu, the Akkadian root of this word, means "to bind, to close, to imprison". The mother-in-law = the imprisoner. Peter's mother-in-law, the feverish imprisoned imprisoner, is the perfect symbol of how humanity is living its earthly experience. It is a humanity imprisoned in Satan's deception and at the same time it is a feverish imprisoner imparting the system's enslaving training on others. It is a humanity sick with fear, continually in mourning because of unprecedented and countless violence, oppressed by powers, powerless to react, without any guides, consumed with the fire to possess and with ambition. It is an imprisoned humanity that is unable to free itself by its own power and does nothing else but imprison others. A humanity poisoned by ignorance and anger, resentment and conflict, sick in mind, prostrated in the spirit, wounded in body. A humanity that none of the empires, governments, powers, religious hierarchies have proven capable of or efficacious in healing and freeing. It is that same humanity that at sunset gathers at the door of the house where Jesus is staying because it knows that He can heal inside and out, He can release from imprisonment and fear.
A time will come when the entire city will no longer gather at the doors of the religious temple because the hierarchy that it represents has proven to be ineffective at freeing humanity from its imprisonment and disease. A time will come when the entire city will no longer gather at the doors of the temple of empires because the political power that they represent has proven to be ineffective in releasing humanity from its imprisonment and disease. A time will come when the entire city will no longer gather at the doors of the economic temples because the power of money that it represents has proven to be ineffective at releasing humanity from its imprisonment and disease. A time will come when the entire city will no longer gather at the doors of the temple of science because the culture and knowledge that it represents has proven to be ineffective at releasing humanity from its imprisonment and disease.
A time will come when the entire city will gather at  the doors of the house of Peter's mother-in-law where Jesus is staying. A time will come when the entire city will gather anywhere and everywhere that Jesus is staying and where it will be possible to meet Him, because Jesus, and no one else, has the real, magnificent power to free humanity from the imprisonment in which Satan has enclosed it by deception. Only Jesus can provide humanity with the knowledge and the procedures useful to awaken us and to help us live a new peaceful, harmnious evolution beyond  prison and enslavement.
Jesus can heal a man's body because He is able to heal a man from within. Jesus can liberate man from any existential prison because He is able to free man from any inner prison which is thinking that we are born to be served and not to serve. That is Satan's terrible and poisonous misconception/deception that imprisons man. Man has not yet understood that he is here on this earth to carry out a task, not to imprison himself or others, utilizing his abilities. Man is here to serve beauty and harmony, not to destroy and bride them. He is here to share earth's wealth and resources for the good of all, not to despoil and possess them.
Even with regard to Peter's mother-in-law,  her healing  by Jesus  coincided with getting up  to serve life and her brothers with a new and renewed heart. Any healing and release from imprisonment is meaningless and impossible if it is not lived as a new and marvellous opportunity to learn to serve life, God, and Love wholeheartedly.
