The Gospel of John 14:6-14

United

What can a finger do after it has been cut off from its hand? What can a hand do after it has been detached from its arm? What can an arm do after it has been separated from its body? A finger, hand, and arm can do nothing but feel hopelessly separated and useless; they can only ask and implore to be somehow reattached to the body to regain unity and functionality.
There is a part of humanity that thinks it can live without the Lord and has abandoned Him; another part of humanity, due to many wounds and disappointments, feels abandoned by God and therefore lives apart from Him. None of these people on either sides have yet realized, even remotely, that man can do and experience nothing when he voluntarily separates himself from his God, his Creator, his Lord; man can do and experience nothing if he feels abandoned and separated from God. The unity of a system is not the final objective but the fundamental essence of its entirety, a condition that exists even before functionality of the system itself.
For those who want to live in separation, God is a cause of violence, ridicule and derision; for those who feel separated, God is the object of blasphemy or frantic, desperate prayer. The humanity that feels separated from God believes that God is always and only the last resort, the rightful compensation to their limits, the necessary remedy to their own shortcomings. In this vision, prayer is reduced to an incurable need for safety in terms of essential needs, a way to overcome limitations and constitutional problems. God is not that. God, the Lord, is our loving All, He is our supreme and infinite Unity, and when we are disconnected from Him, there is no way for us to hold within ourselves,  even for a moment, the vital spirit.
When we are united to Him, when we live in Him, everything becomes possible.  But when we feel separated from Him and we want to exist separated from Him, nothing in our life can work well, there can be no harmony or health, and our prayer cannot be powerful and wonderful as Jesus taught us that it can be.
